Brighter And some

Food safety alert: postcodes your stomach ought to avoid

If, like many, proximity to cafes and restaurants is part of your suburb selection process you should read this.

Between April 2016 and June 2017, Brisbane City Council received 1166 complaints about food safety.

This included 568 about food premises and 598 about unsafe food and infection, according to Brisbane Times.

Some suburbs featured more prominently than others in the list of food safety complaint data.

Brisbane City clocked up 125 complaints. Perhaps that’s not surprising given it has a high concentration of restaurants, bars and cafes.

Following that logic, perhaps we’re not too surprised to see Fortitude Valley in second place, and South Brisbane in third.

But then it gets interesting with suburbs including Upper Mount Gravatt, Inala, Sunnybank and Carindale all on the list too.

Even our fave suburb for fish and chips – Sandgate – cracked the top 10. We’ll still take our chances.

The good news is that over this same period the total number of complaints each quarter has been in decline.
