Origin legend Nate Myles funds retirement with passive property income

by Kate Watt, Marketing Manager 7 June 2018

Nate Myles played 32 games for Queensland then at age 32 he retired from rugby league and is enjoying a reported $63,000 a year in passive income from his property portfolio.

Not bad for a young bloke!

From humble origins in the Far North Queensland town of Gordonvale, Nate Myles has worked his way to an enviable position: investing his rugby league earnings into a property portfolio, marrying Home and Away star Tessa James and welcoming a baby earlier this year.

Also this year, he sold their family home on the Gold Coast for just under $1 million, reports news.com.au.

And check out the assets he’s still holding:

  • A three-bedroom house in Gordonvale he bought off his mum for $250,000 eight years ago, and which he listed for rent this year at $320 a week.
  • A Brisbane northside unit he bought in 2016 and listed for rent at $380 a week.
  • A south Brisbane penthouse last listed for rent two years ago at $520 a week.

Looks like Nate has a businessman’s head on a footballer’s body.

What’s next for Nate and Tessa? We’re sure the gossip mags will tell us soon enough, but most recently the pair were said to be in Hollywood. Not sure their Gold Coast sale will be enough to secure a Beverley Hills mansion, but sounds like this Queensland Origin legend is enjoying his retirement.
