Brighter Buying

Market update: These under-rated northside spots are tipped for greatness

Affordability and amenity have experts eyeing off north side suburbs in a growth corridor spanning from middle to outer ring Brisbane.

Suburbs like Morayfield and Keperra may never top the blue chip Brissie buying list, but in the current cost-of-living climate, affordability is reigning supreme for aspiring buyers.

These suburbs, plus Brighton and Petrie, made the list of hot spots to watch in 2024 as nominated by a group of property experts surveyed by realestate.com.au.

Each suburb offers something different, but common themes of affordability, good transport connections, investment prospects and family appeal, have placed them on the watch list for 2024.

Keperra, and other gentrifying post war suburbs like Stafford and Chermside West, offer north siders some good value buying. Older style homes with good bones can offer great reno potential, or you can find new homes on splitter blocks (where someone else has done the hard work for you!).

Further out, if the lure of a bayside lifestyle is calling then Brighton and sentimental favourite Sandgate are hard to beat. But if affordability is on your radar, moving in along the rail line could help you snag a good value home in suburbs like Deagon or Boondall. This will leave you with change in your pocket for more than just fish and chips.

Switch tracks to the Caboolture line and you don’t need to travel as far as Petrie or Morayfield to find family friendly buying. Zillmere through to Strathpine offer pockets of great value and different property types.
