Brighter Buying

This north side suburb skyrocketed 33% in the past year

by Kate Watt, Marketing Manager 26 July 2018

It’s a working-class suburb sandwiched between Zillmere and Boondall where you can still pick up a house for well below the Brisbane median price.

And it’s seen a whopping 33 per cent increase in year-on-year median house price growth, according to Domain.

The unlikely winner of this property race is Taigum, where a mix of affordability and amenity is appealing to buyers.

Over a longer term period price growth has been somewhat more moderate. So what does Domain make of this stellar growth spurt?

Interestingly, Domain conducted its year-on-year analysis of growth spurt suburbs to settle an age-old dispute: which side of the Brisbane River is stronger for capital growth?

Its verdict? The top #10 suburbs for year-on-year median house price growth are spread equally on either side of the river.

But if you extend the analysis to count the top #20 suburbs then it’s the north side that comes out on top.

Just goes to show you can use data to support any argument you care to make!

Check out some of the other star performers over the past year:
