Mining magnate to makeover Brissie’s most expensive mansion

by Kate Watt, Marketing Manager 28 September 2016

We all love a good conspiracy theory and this one out of Washington has it all: national security threats, plummeting economies and dire warnings for Aussie banks.

The Australian reports Rinehart’s Hawthorne home is Brisbane’s most expensive. That, combined with her billionaire status, leads us to conclude she’s probably not heading off to Bunnings for some DIY inspiration.

Plans reportedly include upgrades to the guest bedroom and riverfront boathouse. How very civilised darling.

The extraordinary home, on more than 4000sq m of riverfront land, is an amalgamation of six lots and offers about 60m of water frontage. It also features a large swimming pool, tennis court, boathouse and pontoons.

It’s not the first time this year the reno bug has bitten Rinehart with Domain reporting in June that the mining magnate was upgrading her Perth property.

Set on the Swan River in the ritzy suburb of Dalkeith, this home belonged to her father Lang Hancock.

With the resources sector still recovering after its boom years, it’s probably not a bad strategy for the iron ore lady to protect her real estate wealth.

News.com.au reports fellow mining magnates Clive Palmer and Nathan Tinkler, who have both hit hard times, are selling up luxury properties on the Gold Coast and Brisbane respectively. That ought to help make ends meet.

Clive Palmer and his family own five multimillion-dollar mansions in one street in the Gold Coast’s ritziest suburb, the Sovereign Islands.
