The end of another year is here and on the whole Australia’s property market has continued its upward trajectory.

Prices have reached giddy new heights in Sydney while Brisbane has clocked up its own stellar performance.

Check out the realestate.com.au list of Australia’s most expensive suburbs for 2016, based on median prices.

  • Darling Point $7.4 million
  • Potts Point $5.5 million
  • Cremorne Point $4.4 million
  • Box Hill $4.3 million
  • Bellevue Hill $4.3 million

Closer to home, The Courier-Mail reports all of Brisbane’s most expensive suburbs have also cracked the million dollar mark, based on median house prices.

  • Teneriffe $1.7 million
  • New Farm $1.5 million
  • Ascot $1.4 million
  • Hamilton $1.2 million
  • Chandler $1.1 million

That impressive gap between Sydney and Brisbane prices is good news no matter what way you look at it. Brisbane remains one of Australia’s most affordable capital city markets and there’s room for future growth.
